Video, 2 minutes, (2005-2006)
A documentation of soap use, shown is a video still of a french brand ‘ the good mother’ soap. This project recorded its daily use and disappearance, and recoded meaning about the mother’s body.
The soap was photographed every day (that I had time), and a montage made of its gradual disappearance. It was a self-evident metaphor for women who mother, and who are physically and metaphysically worn down.
By inferred intimate proximity to the body, I felt it performed and gave representation to motherhood without showing the maternal body which is absent as Subject in discourse.
