Worn Down

Video, 2 minutes, (2005-2006)

A documentation of soap use, shown is a video still of a french brand ‘ the good mother’ soap. This project recorded its daily use and disappearance, recoding meaning and visibility for representation of mothers.

The soap was used and photographed every day (that I had time) and a montage made of its gradual disappearance. It was a self-evident metaphor for women who mother, and who are physically and metaphysically worn down.

By inferred intimate proximity to the body, the object performs in its intimate relation to the the maternal body.
