delpha make upEver up for a challenge, when asked to be the MC for International Women’s Day Charity cabaret at the Acorn Theatre, Penzance in March 2013, I said ‘Yes’ and started developing a new ‘alter-ego’ character based on Marie Antoinette.

I am always fascinated by ways in which history defines and confines women and a bit of historical and contextual research will reveal how she has been re-vised, re-written and demonised. It was a bit of fun to introduce all the amazing acts in the charity cabaret – and attempt at theatrical stand-up comedy. More than that it followed my interest in re-writing historical women, and re-considering art and gender in contemporary culture.
